PADI Open Water course in Nusa Penida

The first PADI certification level is the Open Water Diver course. It provides you with a certification that enables you to dive all over and opens the door to the magical underwater world. Becoming a diver is a life changing experience, the underwater world will take your breath away, providing once in a lifetime experiences and yet there is still so much to be discovered! Practicing the sport of recreational scuba diving requires a minimum skill set, the Open Water course provides you with the basics of diving skills and knowledge so that you can be a safe diver.

The course runs over at least 3 days in Nusa Penida, where you will cover a theoretical part (videos and questionnaires) and a practical part (swimming pool and sea). The course is so exciting that you won't realize the time go by. By the end of the 3 days you will want even more ... When will you go diving again?

The first level of PADI recreational diving training includes: academic  theory to learn about the equipment and underwater world, the practical side which includes training in the swimming pool prior to the dives in the sea. There is also a multiple choice final exam, to ensure that you remember all you have learnt and you can be a safe diver on every dive.

• The academic part includes all the theory to develop your knowledge. This consists of reading the manual and watching the PADI Open Water video as well as completing the knowledge review questionnaires for the 5 sections. Your instructor will be happy to help you and pass on their knowledge to you. An alternative is to take the course online prior your arrival, this is done via eLearning. This allows you to have more time on site to enjoy your vacation.
• Pool Training : You will make your first bubbles and take your first breaths as a diver in the pool, all to ensure you become familiar with the equipment and have a safe area to practice exercises and skills that are part of your PADI Open Water Diver training. There are a total of 5 pool sessions where you will grow your skill set.  Typically  instructors like to split the 5 pool sets over  two sessions.
• Ocean Training : this is what you do the course for, to see the fauna and the underwater world! Each of the 4 training dives during the PADI Open Water consist of some exercises and an exploration part to enjoy the dive site. Some exercises will be done on the surface between dives.
• Final Exam: It is generally a simple formality as our instructors explain everything in detail, it is a closed book, multiple choice exam. It is above all an opportunity to celebrate your accomplishment of becoming a PADI Open Water Diver!

Dive sites for training are chosen according to the exercises and comfort level of the students. The first two sea dives of the Open Water course are at a max depth of 12 meters. The limit for dives 3 and 4 is max 18 meters.

Sometimes we have to change the times of our outings in order to have the best tide conditions for the training.

Prerequisites:

- At least 10 years old (Open Water Junior up to 14 years old)

- Know how to swim a minimum. 200 meters not timed, or 300 meters with fins / mask / snorkel also not timed.

- Complete the PADI medical questionnaire and not have any contraindication to participate in scuba diving.
